Hannibal Rising

This is the prequel of Hannibal sequels. We have watched how Hannibal Lecter lives as a cannibal. But this movie will explain how he became a serial killer. This time Hannibal is not the villain, he was wronged and vengeful.
He wanted justice for his family. He became an orphan in Europe at the end of World War II, he was traumatized by the flash backs of how the starving Nazis made inhumane things to his younger sister. After escaping from the orphanage, he went to his widowed aunt in France. She has a skill at sword-fighting, and so she made some lessons with Hannibal, which gave him a starting point to practice his killing.
Gaspard Ulliel takes the title role, and Gong Li played his beloved aunt. Hannibal hunts down each of the nasty men who killed his family. This movie is adapted from Thomas Harris’ novel, and directed by Peter Webber. Ulliel was very good playing his role inherited by Hopkins, he copyrighted the eerie looks, and he makes much resemblance of Hopkins. It was fascinating to watch the killer evolve, and the ways he makes his crime elaborately planned.
“Hannibal Rising” is rated R due to some scenes of violence. This is a must-watch for the followers of the “Silence of the Lambs”.
